“RAPORTRAITS” DI GAETANO MASSA A SPAZIO KROMÌA È LA LOCATION SCELTA PER IL NUOVO VIDEO DI THIEUF… E SEATTLE SI AVVICINA!

Le luci, i cavalletti, una sincronia di gesti misteriosi dall’esterno, ma determinati e ben noti nelle mani di chi li compie con consapevolezza tecnica. E soprattutto la sensazione di un micro-mondo che sta nascendo sotto i tuoi occhi.
Assistere alle riprese di un video musicale è il sogno di molti di noi. Essere parte delle riprese di un video, grazie all’arte che ogni giorno si promuove, e in cui ogni giorno si crede, è addirittura beyond the dreams.
Spazio Kromìa è stato scelto da Nigga Thieuf, il nostro autore Gaetano Massa e Danilo Marraffino come location per il nuovo video dell’artista rapper, di origini senegalesi, in uscita proprio ieri, e ufficialmente selezionato per il Seattle Hip Hop Film Festival!
Sintonia particolarmente efficace, visto che proprio Thieuf è al centro di uno dei RaPortraits di Gaetano Massa in mostra in questi giorni da Spazio Kromìa: una carrellata di ritratti che testimoniano l’intenso vissuto umano e artistico dei nuovi miti dell’hip hop, in cui contesto e personaggio divengono un tutt’uno. Come del resto è naturale per un genere che nasce proprio quale rivendicazione e riscatto delle proprie origini. Inclusive in particolare di provenienze geografiche e sociali ad alto tasso di difficoltà.
E così, la denuncia politica e sociale di Thiafour Ndiaye, meglio noto come Thieuf, nato a Dakar e operante in Europa da molti anni, sembra emergere senza soluzione di continuità dai ritratti di Gaetano Massa, proprio innanzi a noi.
Occhi diretti, “senza peli sulla lingua”, come abbiamo scritto nel testo critico della mostra, il cui mood trova immediata personificazione nella voce calda e sguardo indomito di Thieuf, e nella sua melodia cullante ma potente.
Quasi un’ipnotica ninna nanna sciamanica di sapienza antica, ma con l’orecchio rivolto a una dolce-amara consapevolezza del non facile presente in Senegal. Perfettamente interpretata dall’alternanza di ralenti fiero e dinamismo sincero nel videomaking di Gaetano Massa e Danilo Marraffino.
Smontati cavalletti, luci e caffè, Spazio Kromìa si svuota e torna alla sua normalità, piacevolmente stravolta per poche ore dall’invasione musicale: ma può mai restare vuoto, un luogo che si riempie costantemente di arte, e oggi anche di musica? Resta molto più di un pizzico di magia, e quel magnetico Senegal Dal che echeggia nell’aria, col profumo di caffè.

The lights, the tripods and cameras, misterious technical gestures, and especially the sensation of a micro-world rising under your eyes.
Watching the creation of a music video is a dream for many of us. Being part of this music video is simply beyond the dreams.
Spazio Kromìa has been chosen by Nigga Thieuf, our author Gaetano Massa and Danilo Marraffino as set for the brand new video of the Senegal rapper, out just yesterday, and officially selected for the Seattle Hip Hop Film Festival!
Thieuf is one of the rappers portrayed in RaPortraits, the solo show by Gaetano Massa at Spazio Kromìa: the intense life and art of the new hip hop myths, in a series of portraits in which faces and places become a whole. A natural process, for a music that was born just as revendication and redemption of one’s own origins. That sometimes are from a difficult social and geographical context.
And so, the social and political denunciation by Thiafour Ndiaye, aka Thieuf – born in Dakar and active in Europe since many years – and its strong yet sweet voice find a perfect match in the direct eyes staring from the photos by Massa.
Thieuf’s melody is almost an ipnotic and sciamanic lullaby, but with actual knowledge of the difficult Senegal context. Perfectly interpreted by the alternation of proud ralenti and sincere dynamic in the videomaking by Gaetano Massa and Danilo Marraffino.
When yhe light, tripods, cameras and coffees are gone, Spazio Kromìa becomes empty and normal again. But can you really call it “empty”, a place that is constantly filled in with art, and today also with music? What stays is much more than a touch of magic, and that tantalizing Senegal Dal that echoes in the air, with the perfume of coffee.
